CompTIA ICT educational initiatives

CompTIA (the Computing Technology Industry Association) is a leading global industry association representing the international high-technology community, with offices in all major ICT regions worldwide. CompTIA’s goal is to provide a unified voice, global advocacy and leadership, and to advance industry growth through standards, professional competence, ICT education and business solutions. In order to most efficiently serve the industry and its members, CompTIA has developed through multi-stakeholder partnerships and in cooperation with local communities specialized education initiatives and programmes dedicated to ICT training and education, industry-based e-skills competences and certifications, as well as workforce capacity building for the knowledge-based economy and society as a whole. Educational Foundation

The “CompTIA Educational Foundation” utilizes research to develop programs that produce properly skilled workers for the latest, in-demand ICT jobs. After an initial period of study and planning by the Foundation, Creating Futures works hand-in-hand with organizations and training providers to serve the transitioning veterans, individuals with disabilities, youth-at-risk and dislocated workers. Organizations and training providers form programs such as career prep, education, certification and skill validation. In addition, the Creating Futures team works with local employers, workforce boards and CompTIA member companies to find internship and employment opportunities so that individuals may obtain long term employment within the ICT field. The Educational Foundation’s “Creating Futures” program provides students, IT workers, employers, training providers and educational institutions with the necessary components to build a qualified and diverse workforce. Through the program, transitioning U.S. veterans, individuals with disabilities, youth-at-risk and dislocated workers are given training to build life long, productive and rewarding careers in ICT. TechCareer Compass

TechCareer Compass (TCC) is a worldwide Information Technology repository for resources critical in attracting, training and developing properly skilled ICT workers. TCC allows employers to facilitate their employees’ development, and gives ICT students and professionals the ability to define and establish career goals. TechCareer Compass is also an excellent resource for career advisors, training providers and curriculum developers. The site gives users a one-stop source for research, recommendations and consulting regarding ICT career choices. TCC began as an initiative of the US Department of Labor to help develop a well-skilled ICT workforce. CompTIA was selected to develop, deploy and maintain the site. Information provided by TCC is kept current through an ongoing process of formal research studies and analyses by ICT industry leaders, technical subject matter experts and advisory groups. Linking Disabled Veterans to ICT Futures

In alliance with CompTIA, the “National Cristina Foundation” will provide donations of appropriate computer technology necessary for the servicemen and women to access the ICT training, certification and job placement services offered by CompTIA’s Educational Foundation’s Creating Futures program. This program will enable disabled veterans who are ready for employment to participate in online training, certification test prep and mentoring that will give them the skills they need to meet ICT Industry agendas. The CompTIA E2C Program for Not-for-Profit Educational Organizations

The CompTIA Education to Careers (E2C) program provides IT educators and trainers the information, tools and resources necessary to help individuals enter the ICT industry. E2C promotes success in the recruitment, training, certification and retention of ICT workers worldwide.

The E2C program also benefits students, schools and businesses by:

  • Working with partners to train, certify and upgrade the skills of ICT professionals
  • Improving employee performance with education and certification programs
  • Providing measurement tools for hiring, evaluating and promoting employees
  • Raising ICT career awareness among potential ICT professionals
